Microsoft Support Lifecycle Quartly Newsletter, March 16, 2010

Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy provides consistent and predictable guidelines for product support availability at the time of product release. Microsoft will offer a minimum of 10 years support (5 years of Mainstream support and 5 years of Extended) for Business and Developer products.

The objective of this document is to highlight the next main support deadlines (end of support and change of support phase) affecting the major products along with the updated MSL.xls file provided.

The following products and service packs have been added to the Excel spreadsheet attached with this document:

· Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition

· SQL Server 2008 R2

· System Center Data Protection Manager 2006

· System Center Data Protection Manager 2007

Service Packs Retiring:

· Windows Vista RTM will NO longer be supported from April 13, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 2 as soon as possible before this date.

· SQL Server 2008 RTM will NO longer be supported from April 13, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 1 as soon as possible before this date.

· .Net Framework 2.0 SP1 will NO longer be supported from April 13, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 2 as soon as possible before this date.

· Dynamics NAV 5.0 RTM will NO longer be supported from April 13, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to the Service Pack 1 as soon as possible before this date.

Lifecycle Transitions:

· Live Communications Server 2005 will enter Extended Support on April 13, 2010.

· ISA Server 2004 Enterprise will enter Extended Support on April 13, 2010.

Products and Service Packs transitioning July 13, 2010

Products Retiring:

· Windows 2000 Server and Workstation will NO longer be supported from July 13, 2010. It is imperative that the affected infrastructure are upgraded before this date (servers and workstations) to a supported operating system (Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP) to prevent potential security risks on the Information System.

Service Packs Retiring:

· Windows XP SP2 will NO longer be supported from July 13, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 3 as soon as possible before this date.

· Office 2007 SP1, Project Server 2007 SP1, SharePoint Server 2007 SP1, Visio 2007 SP1 will NO longer be supported from July 13, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 2 as soon as possible before this date.

Lifecycle Transitions:

· Windows Server 2003 will enter Extended Support on July 13, 2010.

· Point of Sale 1.0 will enter Extended Support on July 13, 2010.

Products and Service Packs transitioning August 25, 2010

Service Packs Retiring:

· Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP1 will NO longer be supported from August 25, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 2 as soon as possible before this date.

Products and Service Packs transitioning October 12, 2010

Service Packs Retiring:

· Exchange Server 2007 SP1 will NO longer be supported from October 12, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 2 as soon as possible before this date.

· Dynamics GP 10.0 SP1 will NO longer be supported from October 12, 2010. It is recommended to upgrade to the latest Service Pack (SP3) as soon as possible before this date.

Products and Service Packs transitioning January 11, 2011

Products Retiring:

· SQL Server 7.0 will NO longer be supported from January 11, 2011. It is recommended to upgrade the existing servers as soon as possible before this date.

· Exchange Server 2000 will NO longer be supported from January 11, 2011. It is recommended to upgrade the existing messaging infrastructure as soon as possible before this date.

· Dynamics GP 9.0 will NO longer be supported from January 11, 2011. It is recommended to upgrade as soon as possible before this date.

Service Packs Retiring:

· System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 RTM will NO longer be supported from January 11, 2011. It is recommended to upgrade to the latest Service Pack (SP2) as soon as possible before this date.

· Dynamics GP 10.0 SP2 will NO longer be supported from January 11, 2011. It is recommended to upgrade to the latest Service Pack (SP3) as soon as possible before this date.

· Dynamics AX 2009 RTM will NO longer be supported from January 11, 2011. It is recommended to upgrade to the latest Service Pack (SP1) as soon as possible before this date.

· Dynamics SL 6.5 SP2 will NO longer be supported from January 11, 2011. It is recommended to upgrade to the latest Service Pack (SP3) as soon as possible before this date.

· Dynamics SL 7.0 SP1 will NO longer be supported from January 11, 2011. It is recommended to upgrade to the latest Service Pack (SP2) as soon as possible before this date.
